The 21st seed Stosur survived a tense tiebreak and defeated Pironkova 6-4 7-6 (8-6) in a little under two hours to reach to the semi-finals.
Pironkova, ranked at number 102 in the world, explained after the match that Stosur’s strokes weren’t typical.
