The 5G commercial offering is uniquely tied to latest technology innovations and premium services exclusive to stc Bahrain customers, allowing stc Bahrain customers to enjoy data speeds up to 1.2Gbps.
Additionally, a wide range of premium home broadband services and devices has been designed to enhance the home broadband experience along with unlimited Internet.
stc Bahrain is also investing in pioneering a number of services, which will enable the telecom operator to cover fully fledged services in the 5G era across its customers base.
This will include three typical scenarios: enhanced mobile broadband, ultra-reliable and low latency communications (URLLC), and massive machine type communications (mMTC).
While the eMBB focuses on services characterised by high data rates, such as high definition (HD) videos, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), the URLLC focuses on latency-sensitive services, such as self-driving and remote surgery. mMTC focuses on services that have high requirements for connection density, such as those typical for smart city use cases.
The achievement comes as the latest milestone in stc Bahrain’s 5G services verification and limited commercial launch.
Earlier this year, stc Bahrain adopted the latest 5G core technologies, and “Spectrum Sharing between LTE and 5G”, the latest spectrum management technologies – as well as agile transport layer technologies using Huawei’s solutions.
Nezar Banabeela, chief executive of stc Bahrain, said:
“Following the successful completion of the largest 5G network in partnership with Huawei, we are pleased to announce that we are enhancing our 5G broadband services. An important technology milestone for us, this will enable us to tailor our service offerings, capitalise on emerging trends and provide our customers with greater choice and flexibility to embrace new experiences and applications on our high-performing 5G network.”
John Lu Yuedong, chief executive of Huawei Bahrain, said:
“Working with stc Bahrain to complete the largest 5G network in the kingdom marks an important milestone in the evolution of Bahrain’s telecommunications market. It’s a privilege to work with partners such as stc Bahrain, with whom we can deliver a new wave in connectivity that will empower the transition into a fully connected, intelligent era.”
