According to a survey conducted by Gallup International in the aftermath of Britons’ vote to leave the EU, 61% of Bulgarians would prefer to stay in the bloc if such a referendum were held here.
Some 20% would vote leave, while 19% would be “swinging”, Gallup says.
The figures show a decrease in support for the EU among Bulgarians, with a Gallup poll conducted in December of last year suggesting 82% were in favour of remaining in the EU and would vote to stay in a hypothetical referendum.
Asked whether they agree that the EU will disintegrate soon, 46% have answered “Disagree”, 26% “Agree”, and 28% “I don’t know.”
The survey conducted between July 01 and July 07 comes nearly a month after a previous one in June, testing opinions before the referendum.
In June, asked whether the result would impact their life, a resounding 67% said “No”, 11% “Yes”, and 22% “I don’t know.”
After Brexit, however, the those who thought the vote would not impact their life were 29%, 51% replying with a “Yes” and 20% “I don’t know”.
